About the project
The project is an interactive, game-based web app that teaches students to recognise digital threats such as phishing. Instead of traditional teaching, the user meets a series of realistic scenarios where they have to assess a message and make a choice — and get feedback on the consequences of their choices along the way.
The challenge
Traditional teaching in digital security is often theoretical and hard to remember in practice. The challenge was to create an experience that felt relevant and engaging — without it becoming yet another boring quiz. At the same time, the solution had to be easy to navigate on mobile, since that is where students would typically encounter it.
From idea to solution
From threat to scenario
The starting point was research into typical phishing attacks and the situations students most often encounter. This became a series of scenario cards where the user has to assess a message and make a choice.
The balance between educational and playful
Several versions of the interaction were tested, especially the feedback on wrong choices, and the tone was adjusted so the experience felt educational without being preachy.
The final interface
A scenario
The user is shown a realistic message and has to judge whether it is safe.
Feedback
After each choice, the user gets feedback explaining the consequence.
Result
The result is an interactive experience with several realistic scenarios where the user actively practises spotting digital threats — in a format that is quick to pick up on both mobile and desktop.
